PLATON (National Funding)

PLATON consists of an online platform and mobile applications (iOS and Android) that will connect to the same database to manage data related to patients receiving medication for cancer treatment. Additionally, an Augmented Reality System aims at the effective training of nursing staff and surgeons in placement and use of port-a-cath devices. Overall, the proposed system will offer digital capabilities in the following areas: (a) Creating a personalized profile (health card) for each patient, (b) A recording subsystem with capabilities: recording drugs, patient condition management, Port-a-cath catheter system status, (c) training through augmented reality of the nursing staff and surgeons for port-a-cath devices placement to avoid mistakes that will have negatives effects on patients, (d) information security management subsystem to allow access to only authorized users and ensure the privacy personal data.

SILVANUS (H2020)

The project innovation and the overall approach adopted for the development of a scientific platform catering to the needs and demands of interdisciplinary stakeholders in the management of wildfires. The multi-stakeholder project platform is conceived to deliver the high-impact intervention in addressing the challenges out-lined in Phases A (Prevention and preparedness), B (Detection and Response) and C (Restoration and adaptation) when mitigating wildfires. The challenge of continuously monitoring the forest infrastructure is achieved with the use of sensors (static environmental sensors and mobile sensors being deployed in response to incident reports). The information collected from such distributed sensor systems are then subsequently processed at both cloud plat-form and/or near-edge solutions. While Phase A and Phase C data collection, assessment and monitoring will take place in the cloud, the need for (near-) real-time analysis on the behaviour and spread of wildfire will be continually analysed at the near-edge computational infrastructure. The complexity of inherent data modelling and ingestion of complex stream of continuous and sparse data collected from various sources of end-devices will be processed within the platform.

Digitization and Presentation of Cultural Material

The project targets to the creation of a Web application for the strengthening of the documentary-research base for the cultural material of the network of museum of the Karditsa prefecture. The parts of the project are: a) field research in places related to events of the 1821 period in the Karditsa area with the purpose of the photographic documentation-cartographic recording, b) indexing of selected digitized newspapers and based on the research that has been carried out, c) digital processing of an oral testimony, d) creation of a website, e) 3D digitization of selected exhibits, f) design of an immersive environment for visitors using Augmented Reality, g) the final consultation with the Municipality of Karditsa, so that the application is hosted in the infrastructure of the unified Government Cloud (g-Cloud).

ELLIOT (H2020) SHAPES Open Call

ELLIOT comes into the scene to enhance the SHAPES platform by providing specialized modules for collecting data concerning the nutrition habits of individuals and supporting a recommendation mechanism for good practices towards securing a good health level. ELLIOT proposes the use of a nutrition assistant without relying on any complex sensory infrastructure. Individuals can utilize their smart phones and tablets and through the use of food images and deep learning, they can collect nutritional data transferred to the SHAPES platform for further processing. A first step of processing is performed locally at the devices and a decision support system accompanied by a dedicated knowledge base proceeds with the appropriate suggestions and nutritional planning. Every meal is recognized and classified into the appropriate type and its ingredients are extracted leading to the conclusion of nutrients and the amount of food that individuals consume. This information is valuable for detecting potential health problems and firing mitigation actions. ELLIOT is smoothly integrated with the SHAPES platform adopting all the necessary standards and semantic technologies to easily transfer the collected data to the back end infrastructure.

SaveWoodenBoats National Initiative

The project partnership aims to rescue and maintain the maximum possible number of elements of the “ELENI P.”, one of the largest surviving “Perama” boats, to prepare a complete study of the construction of a true copy of Eleni P., which will incorporate the maximum possible number of items that have been saved and conserved, create a digital copy of the restored vessel and prepare an exploitation and sustainability study of the physical/digital copy of the vessel. The above objectives will be achieved by the 2D/3D Design and Digital 3D Preserved Parts of the Ship, with targeted and specialized Diagnostic and Maintenance Works at the Shipyard, with Wood Recognition and Maintenance Works by recognized Greek scientists, Design and Designing Works by Specialized Architects as well as Documentation and Demonstration Works with the contribution of Executives from the Museum of Hydra and Central DNPK Service of the Ministry of Culture.

Intelligent Waste Management

Funded by the Municipality of Lamia

The project targets to the intelligent management of waste bins/trucks of the Lamia Municipality and the efficient delivery of the appropriate collection routes in the city. Our components deal with the provision of an easy to use Web interface and a set of collection routes towards the minimization of the cost for the municipality. The city is separated into a number of zones and for each zone we provide algorithms for minimizing the number of routes and the collection cost. Additionally, the responsible persons of the municipality can select algorithms that permit the ‘mix’ of collection trucks or dedicated missions according to the needs.

ENFORCE (H2020)

ENFORCE provides solutions for the virtualization of Set-top Boxes (STBs – vSTBs) and iTV services chains (if absent in SoftFIRE). ENFORCE covers the programmability aspect of the SoftFIRE platform that will reveal the combination of Software Defined Networks (SDN) and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) to directly govern and orchestrate network resources to create virtual infrastructures. For iTV services, ENFORCE will also offer a benchmarking tool that will reveal the strengths / weaknesses of the SoftFIRE solution. ENFORCE will evaluate the monitoring mechanism and the SoftFIRE platform on top of multiple test scenarios where the demand for iTV services and their performance will vary.
